City in Nature: Solo exhibition by Kelly Ser

City in Nature: Solo exhibition by Kelly Ser

2026 opens with a striking celebration of art, heritage, and place. Singaporean artist Kelly Ser presents her latest art showcase at Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong, where bold modern expression meets the timeless elegance of Peranakan culture.

This showcase marks the first in-person unveiling of Ser’s Peranakan Treasures and Urban Sanctuary collections, featuring two standout works: City in Nature (Peranakan Treasures) and City in Nature (Urban Sanctuary). Though sharing the same title, the artworks offer contrasting yet complementary perspectives — one richly layered with Peranakan motifs and cultural symbolism, the other calm, contemporary, and reflective of the city as a place of sanctuary.

Both pieces are hand painted contemporary artworks inspired by Singapore, capturing the tension and harmony between nature and urban life, heritage and modernity. Shown together, they form a compelling visual dialogue that echoes the spirit of Katong itself — vibrant, storied, and deeply rooted in cultural identity.

Set within the thoughtfully curated interiors of Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong, the exhibition feels both intimate and intentional. The hotel’s strong connection to local heritage provides a powerful backdrop, allowing the artworks to resonate within a space that honours history while embracing the present.

Visitors are invited to experience the showcase from now until 6 March — a moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect through art. It is a refined yet impactful way to begin the year, where culture, creativity, and place converge.
